My journey with art began with an accident.
When I was a child, I once created huge tribal masks on the wall with unripe baby mangoes. Unfortunately, my parents had just gotten the wall freshly painted before then, so this experiment clearly didn’t end very well.
But that is the point where my passion for art and craft began – right from my childhood.
For me, art is like a river of emotions that flows into creating something beautiful out of nothing. I believe everyone has this hidden superpower within themselves and they implement it in their own way.
Today, I am a self-taught sculptor from Sivasagar, Assam.
Since the field of art is perpetually evolving with revolutionary, new art forms, I too, decided to step into a new art form: sculpting! However, this wouldn’t have been possible without Mouldit!
It gave me the courage to step out of my comfort zone and explore something new.
As for my artistic process, I like to focus on planning first.I choose a subject of interest and make a simple mental map of how I want to go about things.
Then, I start with execution.
A wire armature is a must to shape and support the pose – but I also add aluminium foil to the armature to avoid the unnecessary weight. I then apply Mouldit to create the desired or required shape. Small detailing and accessories are added in later stages.
This entire process is extremely enthralling!
My advice to all the young creative individuals using Mouldit is to try and approach your work in an organised manner in order to help streamline the process. If you want to make impactful work that can attempt to change the world, then constant practice, correct guidance and careful planning is essential.
Never give up on your journey. Hurdles will be faced at every step, but in the end, practice will give you the desired fruits!
