A door dangler and a nameplate pared together in a chic and aesthetic manner made with Shilpkar. The colours used are soft hues that would look lovely when hung outside your door entrance. It can also be a lovely handmade gift that you can give as a house warming gift.

Materials Needed

Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Burnt Sienna 01, Chrome Yellow 03, White 27, Cerulean Blue 32, Sky Blue 63, Fevicryl Non Sticky Shilpkar, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Jute Yarn, Wooden Beads, Glass Beads, White Cobbler's Thread, Rolling Pin, 3” x 3” - pieces of MDF, Scissors, Clay Carving Tools, Wooden Floral Design Blocks, Compass, Ruler. Jute Yarn, Wooden Beads, White Coloured Cobbler Thread, Rolling Pin, MDF placemat, Corrugated Box, Mount Board, Wooden Planks, Candy Sticks, MDF Wooden Pieces, Twigs, Wooden Frame 12” X 16” Size, Clay Carving Tools, Wooden Floral Design Blocks, Compass.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Take all the materials like the jute yarn, painted house, tassels, golden bells, beads and the clay cones to make the door dangler.

Take a jute yarn. Pass the yarn through the clay cones, beads and the MDF house and dangle the bells and the tassel towards the end. Your door dangler is ready. Nameplate:

Take Fevicryl Non Sticky Shilpkar - resin base and hardener, mix it thoroughly to make an even dough. Take the ball of dough, roll it to make a slab. Mark and cut two circles from the slab measuring 5” and 4” radius. Create impressions on the edges of the circle using a floral wooden block. Leave it to semi dry.

Take the semi dried slab, cut a slit till the centre for both the circles.

Roll the circular slab to make conical shapes. Stick the ends of the cones using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry. Take some dough and make beads out of it. Leave it to dry completely.

Take the white cobbler's thread and make tassels out of it. Take the thin MDF pieces, draw and cut a graphical representation of a house. Take some dough and stick pieces to denote windows. Paint the house in a shading effect using Acrylic Colours - Burnt Sienna 01, Chrome Yellow 03 and White 27. Leave it to dry. Paint the clay beads with Acrylic Colours - Dark Green 06, Cerulean Blue 32, Sky Blue 63 by adding a little of White 27 in all the shades. Leave it to dry.

Take the different materials like the flap of the corrugated box, mount board, wooden planks, candy sticks, MDF wooden pieces, twigs to make the name plate.

Take wooden frame 12” x 16” sized. Attach the wooden plank from the rear side of the frame using nails

Take the wooden planks, corrugated flap MDF wooden piece, candy sticks. Draw the graphical representation of the houses on it. Cut the material accordingly.

Take the houses and stick appropriately to the inner side of the frame using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry.

Take non sticky shilpkar resin base and hardener, mix it thoroughly to make even dough. Roll the slab from the clay dough. Create few small houses out of it. Stick the clay houses along with Candy Sticks,Twigs, MDF to depict the colony of hoses in between the frame using fabric glue. Leave it to dry. Your frame of mixed medium houses will look like this on this stage.

Paint the frame and the houses using Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Chrome Yellow 03, Dark Green 06, Sap Green 21, Cerulean Blue 32, Sky Blue 63 by adding black 02 and White 27 to make the light and dark shades respectively. Leave it to dry.

Take MDF wooden placemat. Draw and cut small sized house shaped out of it. Stick the house shape on the placemat using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry.

Paint the placemat and the house shape in shading manner using Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, black 02, Chrome Yellow 03 and Sap Green 21 respectively. Leave it to dry.

Write the surname of your own. Paint the word in shading manner using acrylic colour white 27 and sky blue 63 respectively. Leave it to dry.

Your frame of houses and the name plate will look like this on this stage.

Take the metal hooks and pierce the hooks towards the bottom side of the frame to dangle the nameplate. Assemble the name plate using jute yarn, wooden beads with the tassels on the metal hooks. Your nameplate is ready.
