Wooden Tray With Phulkari Work

Phulkari is a regional art from Punjab and which literally means 'Fower work'. This Art form has been recreated on a wooden tray to get that floral feel using Liquid Embroidery Colours.

Materials Needed

Fevicryl Soft Acrylic Colour - Black 202, Fevicryl Liquid Embroidery - Red 701, Orange 705, Fevicryl Liquid Embroidery - Pearl Blue 305, Pearl Metallic - Gold 352, Colour Palette, 12” X 12” Sized Wooden Tray, 12” X 12” Sized White Paper, Pencil, White Carbon Paper, Ruler, Sponge, Water Container.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1

Take a 12” x 12” sized white paper and draw a checkered pattern on it.

Take a 12” x 12” sized wooden tray and sponge dab with Fevicryl Soft Acrylic Colour - Black 202. Leave it to dry. Trace the checkered pattern on it. Refer to the image.

Paint the tray with Fevicryl Liquid Embroidery - Red 701, Orange 705, Fevicryl Liquid Embroidery - Pearl Blue 305 and Pearl Metallic - Gold 352 for making the phulkari stitch pattern inside the wooden tray as well as on the borders of the tray. Refer to the main image.
